A passenger plane was spotted trying to land as it was surrounded by 12 tornadoes in nail-biting footage.
The cyclones formed on the horizon in the resort city of Sochi in south-western Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region.
At least four different tornadoes were seen at the same time in the freak weather.
They had gathered just off of the coast, according to local reports.
And some local reports suggested that up to 12 twisters were spotted in the area at the time and other witnesses claimed they saw 15.
But the odd weather reportedly calmed down within minutes.
Local emergency services issued a warning about the harsh weather conditions and expected strong stormy winds and hail.
A spokesperson for the emergency services said: “If the tornado reaches the shore, it will lead to terrible damages.
“Raging nature is not a joke, therefore remember if you by any chance are in an open area, make sure you can hide in the closest ditch, pit or ravine.
“Lie down on the bottom of the ground and press hard against it.”
The poor weather conditions also led to a delay in about nine flights at the Sochi international airport.
The plane reportedly landed safely, although passengers probably would have experienced some severe turbulence.
